Hot Tub Maintenance

Whether or not you already own a hot tub, maintaining your hot tub is extremely important. Not only can it lengthen the life of your hot tub, keep the water clean, keep the system running well and ensure it stays completely effective, you will reap the rewards if you come to trade it in for a more modern alternative in the future.

At Aquasun, we also stock second hand hot tubs and can see that when hot tubs are well-maintained, they have an extremely long life and can be re-sold without a problem.Hot Tub

Aquasun has outlined some points for your to consider when taking care of your hot tub at home.

Clean the cover and filter of your hut tub regularly

This will ensure that the water in your hot tub stays clean and will help keep your system clear. After all, you do not want to be sitting in a pool of dirty, contaminated water.

Maintain the correct chemical levels in your hot tub

While too little chemical could lead to contaminated, diseased and bacteria-filled water, too much chemical in your hot tub can corrode your hot tub. Therefore, you should ensure that your hot tub always has the correct amount of chemical.

When you purchase your hot tub, Aquasun will advise you on how much chemical is required for your particular model.

Adding chemical to your hot tub:

  • You should check the chemical level of your hot tub, using a test strip, once or twice a week.
  • Before adding any chemical, you should check the alkalinity of your hot tub. A hot tub should be around 80-120PPM before chemical is added. If it is too low, you can add sodium bicarbonate, or sodium bisulfate if it is too high.
  • Add one chemical to your hot tub at a time, leaving the hot tub running and the cover off for at least 15 minutes after adding the chemical.
  • Measure out the chemicals before adding them to the hot tub.
